Artist Statement

I like to tell stories and I interpret the world around me through art. My work is a reflection of personal and quotidian experiences. I am inspired by internal landscapes, the human condition, the construct of time and sense of place (both real and imagined). Creating art allows me to process my day-to-day surroundings and experiences through pictorial narratives through the vehicle of collage. Although these narratives may appear elusive, they are stories none the less.

I create these narratives by curating random, available images into brand new visual dialog. This approach allows me to respond intuitively when creating each piece, tapping into the zeitgeist of my own personal narrative. It's as much about the process of creating as the end result. I love the spontaneity, the hands-on, ad-hoc qualities of collage. These works are made using paper as a base, and include such elements as ephemera, appropriated images, cut papers, random found objects, stickers, duct tape, mono-printing, sequins, glitter glue, stickers, stamps, acrylic stars etc.
