Artist Statement

I interpret the world around me by telling stories through art. My work is a reflection of quotidian experiences and explores the transitory nature of everyday life. I am inspired by internal landscapes, the human condition, randomness and a sense of place (both real and imagined). Creating art allows me to process my individual experiences through pictorial narratives. Although these narratives may appear jumbled up and elusive due to the nature of collage, they are stories.

I create these narratives by curating random, overlooked and sometimes appropriated images/ephemera into brand new visual dialogue. I love the spontaneity, hands-on, ad-hoc qualities of collage. For me, it's as much about the process of creating as the end result. This approach allows me to respond intuitively when creating each piece. These analog collages are made using paper as a base and include such elements as: cut papers, found objects, stickers, duct tape, mono-printing, sequins, glitter glue, stickers, stamps, acrylic stars etc.
