Artist Statement
I interpret the world around me by telling stories through art. My work is a reflection of personal and quotidian experiences. I am inspired by internal landscapes, the human condition, and a sense of place (both real and imagined). Creating art allows me to process my experiences through pictorial narratives. Although these narratives may appear elusive, they are stories.
I create these narratives by curating random, disposable and sometimes appropriated images into brand new visual dialogue. This approach allows me to respond intuitively when creating each piece. It's as much about the process of creating as the end result. Plus, I love the spontaneity, the hands-on, ad-hoc qualities of collage.
These collages are made using paper as a base, and include such elements as ephemera, appropriated images, cut papers, found objects, stickers, duct tape, mono-printing, sequins, glitter glue, stickers, stamps, acrylic stars etc.
